Peer Mediators
-
Students who are trained to help other students solve their conflicts peacefully. Positive role models that show leadership skills, are able to keep confidential information that may be shared in mediation, and must be someone with whom their peers feel comfortable discussing a conflict/problem.

Selected in 4th grade by their classroom teachers and school counselor with input from fellow classmates.

Week-long training with a certified adult mediation specialist from the district’s Student Assistance dept. Training in spring semester of 4th

Meet monthly during lunch to practice mediation skills and discuss business.

Used for other leadership roles in the building such as deciding on Red Ribbon Week themes.

Once selected, they remain PM until they leave PWE in 6th May continue to be PMs in Middle School also.

Running Club

This club is offered to encourage our students to participate in running/fitness, to get moving early in the morning so they are better prepared for school and to have fun and build relationships with peers.

Kindergarten through 6th graders are invited to participate. There is no need to sign up, simply have your child at school by 7:20 and they will be allowed to participate.

We will meet EVERY DAY beginning in September (weather permitting) from 7:20-7:35. *If it is below 40 degrees or raining, running club will be cancelled.

The program Marathon KIDS will be offered during running club. Marathon KIDS has partnered with Nike this year and will bring you several changes along with some cool new prizes.

Safety Patrol

Prestonwood Safety Patrol is an organization that allows students to serve as crossing guards before and after school. It is a great way for your child to help his or her school and community.

It is open to students who display the following attributes: attentive listening, mutual respect, and give appreciations – no put downs. They are also punctual, have good behavior and keep good grades. The classroom teachers and patrol sponsors choose the Prestonwood Safety Patrol Members.

New 5th and 6th graders members were trained at the end of the 2018-2019 school year. Students who are new to Prestonwood will be given the opportunity to join when school begins.

Students will serve one day a week, each week from August 2019 to May 2020. Morning patrol duty is from 7:35 – 7:50 am and afternoon duty is from 2:55 – 3:10 pm.

Sports Club

Sports club is for 3rd – 6th grade students who love playing games and sports and love having fun with friends.

Students must maintain positive academic progress in core subject areas, model good behavior at school at all times, maintain good attendance at school and at all sports club meetings and model good behavior and follow directions while participating in the after school sports club.

There will be an ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING for those interested in the Prestonwood Sports Club in September. At the meeting Mrs. Rodriguez will let you know everything you need to know about the Prestonwood Sports Club as well as explain the academic & behavior requirements of those in the CLUB.
