Volunteers Needed at the School on Tuesday, November 8th

PWE Volunteers who have completed their RISD background check are needed to help at the school on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8th. Volunteering will be simple - making sure voters enter through the appropriate locations.

Please contact Sharon Houghton at Sharon.Houghton@risd.org to let her know when you can help. Any time you have available will be helpful, or you can volunteer for a shift from 7:30-11:30 or 11:15-3:15.

The intersection of Nedra Way and La Cosa (the corner PWE sits on) has been approved for a crossing guard. Now we just need applicants interested in the job! Please share this information with anyone you know who would be interested.

Applications are available online through Dallas County Schools, or you may ask for an application in the PWE office. Completed applications can be emailed to dreeves@dcschools.com or mailed to 8035 E. R.L. Thornton Fwy, 2nd Floor, Dallas, TX 75228.

Job requirements are

High school Diploma; GED; or actively enrolled to obtain GED
18 Years or older
Pass physical and drug screening
Criminal History Check
Able to stand for at least 2 hours
Dependable transportation
Yes, we do hire for p.m. shifts only

Pearce Mustang Fans in Grades K-6 are invited to join the Pearce Mustang Kick-Off Crew! Prior to varsity home games, the Kick-Off Crew will run through the helmet to cheer the Mustangs onto victory! The cost is $20 and will include a t-shirt. Shirts can be purchased at PearceAthletics.org and will be ready for pick-up at the game.

On game days, participants and families will need a ticket to enter the stadium. You may purchase tickets at the ticket office at the stadium, or you can purchase them at Pearce High School. More details will be sent once you sign up at PearceAthletics.org .

Dear Prestonwood Elementary Parents & Community,

I’m writing to let you know that RISD is in the planning process of a renovation project at Prestonwood Elementary as part of Bond 2016. This exciting project will have a positive impact on the school and we’re looking forward to sharing details with you.

Please accept this invitation to attend an informational meeting about the renovations at Prestonwood Elementary on Thursday, September 22, at 5:30pm. District staff will join me in providing information at this meeting, and we are committed to keeping you informed and welcome your questions and thoughts. We’ll have architects and staff directly involved in the project available to discuss every aspect of the work and answer any questions you might have.

This project will require the temporary use of portable classrooms this year as work is completed in different areas of the school. We’ll also share details of our plan to minimize the disruption this may cause for students and staff.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Prestonwood Elementary, and we look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

Attention All Kinder, 1st and 2nd Grade Grandparents and Honorary Grandparents!

We would like to invite you all to visit Prestonwood Elementary on September 9th from 7:50-8:50 am to

help us celebrate Grandparents’ Day!

Join us in the cafeteria for coffee, donuts, and a warm welcome from our principal, Mrs. Aitken. Afterwards, you’ll get a chance to pick up your grandchildren from their classrooms and explore the school with them!
